Things That Make Me Happy

So I thought I would do this post in place of this weeks 'Merry Monday'. Don't worry, it will still be positive!

I wanted to talk about things that make me happy and follow on with another post sometime this week about things I want to do more of/achieve.

1) YouTube- I was going to put 'internet' but I feel like the internet can also make me feel really sluggish, however YouTube just makes me so so so happy, especially now I make videos myself. It's so lovely to see positive comments about my videos and I always smile a ton:) I also love watching videos, because they are so uplifting and funny and is the perfect relaxation.

2) Music- I decided to label this as just music, because I wanted to include music & piano/keyboard into one category. I absolutely love listening to music (I have it on right now) because it's like one of those friends that just cheers you up instantly. I also LOVE playing my keyboard, because it sounds amazing and feels really good to be able to play stuff. I'm not amazing (I'm only on grade 1) but I really love it and can't wait to improve further so I can learn loads of songs!

3) Pretty Skies- This one is quite random, but I love it when the sky looks pretty whether it be at sunrise or sunset or just throughout the day. It always cheers me up when the sky looks happy!

4) Reading- I think reading is so underrated and people consider it 'geeky'. I think reading is awesome, as it allows you to read about something and get involved in it. FYI I'm reading 'The Fault In Our Stars' by John Green at the moment and loving it! I'm on chapter 10 so no spoilers please;-)

5) Summer- Summer is just the best time. No school, warm weather, cute clothes... Last Summer I did not make the most of it and I felt awful and always tired. This year, however, I'm going to squeeze everything out of it, because I miss it so much now. I also want to go loads of places and take loads of pictures! I'm hoping to do a Summer Lookbook (no promises) which will be a challenge! (If I can convince Charlotte to film it for me) ;)

That's it for today as I've done a lot of talking (or typing...) Hope you enjoyed it and let me know if you'd like a part two!

Question of the blog: What makes you happy?

February Haul!

Sorry I've been a bit distant from my blog lately. I find it hard to come up with ideas to write about and when I see other blogs they are so amazing and I'm not sure about mine...

Anyway! I come to you today with a haul! I went shopping, but I didn't buy enough to do a video so I thought I would show you on here!

Firstly, I picked up these shoes. I had another pair of shoes that were similar to these which I LOVED, but they got too small for me:( I think these are great for spring/summer though! They were from Deichmann and they were £14.99.

Next, I got 2 pairs of jeans. I don't want to ramble on about about these, but they're just jegging style jeans from H&M and they were buy 1 get 1 half price! Pair on left- £!7.99 Pair on right- £14.99 I paid- £25.48

Next- beauty! I can never resist picking something up from the drugstore so I got a Barry M nail paint in the colour 'Peach Melba'. Firstly, how cute is that name?! Secondly, this is a great colour for Spring/Summer as it's pastel, but still really fun and cute! £2.99

I also picked up the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in 001 Transparent. I've heard great things about this powder, so I thought I'd try it out. Something I don't like is the smell, but you have to purposely smell it to notice it. It smells like soap which does smell nice, but not in a makeup product! Haha. £3.99

Finally, I got some chocolatey goodies! The first thing is a vanilla flavoured fondant mouse from Thorntons. I love Thorntons chocolate,so I grabbed this! The second thing is a Hershey's Cookies 'n' Chocolate bar. Hershey's is an American chocolate brand, so when I saw this I thought it looked interesting so I picked it up. I've never tried any American 'candy' before, but I have watched those videos where American's taste British chocolate and it looks like ours tastes different to theirs so I'm excited to try it! They also had Lucky Charms cereal bars which looked really cool! *thinks to self* 'If only they did different flavoured pop-tarts...' Thorntons- 89p Hershey's- £1.75

That's it for this haul! I hope enjoyed it. Don't forget to let me know what posts you'd like to see in the future including 'Merry Monday' ideas/inspiration. Bye!

Question of the blog- Have you tried/used anything I've bought?

Baking Macarons

Sorry this post is a day late, but I wanted to write about something I did today. I made macarons!

Macaroons have a bad reputation for being really difficult to make, but I wanted to have a crack at them anyway! My piping bag isn't very good, so they aren't the prettiest of macarons, but they taste delicious! If you'd like to attempt some macarons, I followed this recipe.

Don't forget to send me pictures of your macarons. Here are mine:

They are soo nice. They have a crispy outer shell, but when you bite into them the meringue is chewy and the buttercream makes them taste super sweet. I would definitely recommend you make these, as they aren't as hard as they may seem. Remember, they don't have to look amazing if they're to eat!

Questions of the blog: Do you like macarons?

Lies | Merry Monday #5

Today I wanted to talk about how the world lies to you every day.You may think that sounds insane, but ask yourself this: How often do you see pictures in magazines or on TV of women that are completely perfect? Do you ever think, 'I wish I was like that' or 'Why are they so perfect'?

Take a look at this:

The media manipulates us into thinking that being slim and having a perfect figure is the most attractive thing. People try and lose weight, because they are constantly told by the world that they are never quite slim enough. But they don't just tell you, they show you too. They make every picture look perfect, but it's all photoshop. In the above video, there was absolutely nothing wrong with the woman before the photoshop, but the media will edit away until they look slim and perfect and whatever their view of 'beauty' is.

People aspire to be perfect, because of what society has manipulated. Woman are told that they have to be slim, have perfect skin, have a perfect figure and amazing hair. Men are told that they  must be muscular, strong and courageous. All of this is just what society wants you to think and until people change their mindset, people are going to continue feeling insecure and unhappy with themselves in their own skin.

I think today's view on what 'beauty' should be like is disgusting and I always try and drill it into people's heads that it's all wrong, but society has too much power.

Question of the blog: What are your views about this?

Flappy Bird

Have you heard of Flappy Bird? Probably.

It's been talked about all over the internet for the past few days and sucked me in. I've been addicted and it's sooo fun, but so frustrating. My high-score is 33, but I have no idea how I got it!

Basically it's the hardest game ever in which a bird avoids the green pipes. Anyway, I would recommend you download it, but be prepared to get annoyed;-)
